Some Information about the FÁSCompetency Development Programme (CDP)
1. AIM
The aim of the Competency Development Programme (CDP) is to raise the competency level of targeted employees in particular occupations within specific sectors to ensure that the national stock of skills matches the national human resource requirements for continuous economic growth.
The programme will provide training subsidy to enhance the competency level of specific members of the company's workforce to enable those employees to cope with frequent and ongoing changes in work practices.
2. SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme, within the limited amount of funds available to it, will be open to employees from companies whose employment level is 250* employees or less in the private sector.
3. ELIGIBLE SECTORS
The proposed training will be targeted at a limited number of key skill needs which will be identified in elements of the following sectors by research and /or consultation with the relevant industry/business stakeholders and other agencies and within a FÁS prioritisation set by the financial constraints of budget availability.
Funding priority will be given towards the development of employees in the general operative category.
The following key sectors will be within the scope of the programme:

Food and Drink
Logistics/Software / Transport

Note:
* The company's total employment is calculated by adding together the numbers employed in all branches, subsidiaries, associate and holding companies in the Republic of Ireland.
In line with best practice training, companies who wish their
employees to participate in this programmes should contact the
relevant local FÁS Training Advisor to ensure that the
particular training/development needs have been clearly
identified in a Training Needs Analysis* and is clearly linked
to its Business Plans.
In the case of the manufacturing sector or international
services sector, companies employing 10 or more may contact a
HRD Adviser in Enterprise Ireland (EI) who can assist as an
initial contact.
FÁS will provide a substantial contribution towards the
eligible cost of this training, e.g.
60% of the agreed cost for certified programmes
**.
40% of the agreed costs for programmes without
certification.
10% additional funding is available when
training takes place in the BMW *** region.

HETAC/FETAC or a recognised equivalent).

It is envisaged that the nett amount, i.e. the agreed cost of
the programme less the FÁS contribution will be paid directly
to the training organisation by each participating company at
the start of the programme with the balance being paid to the
training organisation by FÁS upon the satisfactory adherence
to the terms and conditions of the contract.
