Certified Training Professional (CTP) is
an international qualification in training which was
developed by the ECDL Foundation and is licensed in
Ireland by ICS SKILLS. CTP defines an objective standard
for instructor led training and provides a mechanism for
trainers to have their competence recognised and
certified.
The CTP programme has two streams, for experienced trainers and for
new or aspiring trainers. Experienced trainers attend a three-day
CTP Certification workshop before completing a comprehensive report
on their skills and abilities, called the Trainers Evidence Record.
(For full details on certification pgm see link on left)
New and aspiring trainers must attend a twelve-week CTP Development
course, which incorporates forty hours of training observation,
before moving on to the CTP Certification phase of the programme.

FÁS has officially recognised the CTP qualification as a basis for
inclusion in the FÁS/EI Register of Trainers. In a further move to
support the programme, FÁS has also committed to funding CTP as
part of their Competency Development Programme. This means that
eligible candidates, who are in private employment or self-employed,
receive generous funding of up to 70% of the cost of the programme.
Overview:
The CTP qualification is available for
experienced trainers by the submission of the required evidence to
demonstrate their expertise, and to new and aspiring trainers by
attendance at our 12 week trainer development course.
CTP is an evidence-based qualification, which gives experienced
trainers the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in
training delivery and management. Candidates attend a three-day
workshop during which the requirements are explored and explained,
and practical training skills are demonstrated in a twenty-minute
training session video.
The CTP Development Programme enables individuals who have little or
no training experience to develop the skills necessary to achieve
CTP. It is a training course, which focuses on the key elements of
professional training delivery. On completion of the Development
Programme, participants can then join with experienced trainers in
the CTP workshop.
The CTP certificate is awarded when the candidate is considered to
have achieved the standards laid down by the ECDL Foundation for
attaining the qualification.
The portfolio of evidence and the training video are assessed by the
CTP Tutor in the first instance, and is subject to a second review
by the CTP Internal Verifier.
A third level of assessment is provided by the CTP External Verifier
who reviews a random selection of certification applications, to
ensure that the correct procedures have been followed and that the
judgement of the CTP Tutor and Internal Verifier is fair.
